As part of our endeavor to support Speech and Language Therapists in Singapore and foster their professional development, various Special Interest Groups (SIGs) have been formed, each with a focus on a specific area of Speech Language Pathology.
SIGs allow professionals with a common vested interest or passion in a clinical area of practice to come together to share their knowledge and clinical expertise. SALTS currently has seven SIGs, each consisting of a small group of SLTs.
The SIGs currently cover these areas:
- Mainstream Schools
- Adult Language
- Social Communication
- Complex Communication Needs (including Augmentative and Alternative Communication)
- Paediatric Dysphagia
Each SIG has the same general objectives:
- Grow local expertise
- Develop best practices
- Encourage peer learning
SIGs meet on average four times a year to share recent developments in the field, develop best practices, discuss case studies, just to name a few. Each SIG will also contribute at least one annual Professional Development event for SLTs working in or interested in that particular area of clinical practice.
If you are keen to join any of these SIGS, let us know of your interest via firstname.lastname@example.org. Watch this space for regular SIG updates.
