President’s Message (2018)

by Angeline Tan

Dear SALTS members,

Season’s greetings to you and your family!  I trust that you had an enjoyable time with your loved ones.  2018 has gone past quickly and we are now at our first issue of TIC for 2019! Danielle and the team have put in effort to make this issue a success, and I hope that you would enjoy it.

It has been quite a journey since the committee members and I have been elected. Although we were new to the committee and to the workings of SALTS, everyone worked hard and worked together to bring new, exciting initiatives to SALTS; one of which include the SALTS membership bundle.  This newly introduced membership bundle provides attractive discounts when you sign up as a SALT member for two consecutive years.  If you have yet to renew your membership, I strongly encourage you to check out this membership bundle on our website now!

Another core initiative that the committee is working on is to add value to our SALTS members.  We have been looking to collaborate with other organisations to increase the number of Speech Therapy related Continuing Professional Events (CPEs) in the local setting.  We have also sought out discounts for SALTS members for subscription of journal articles, conferences, and CPEs etc.  Many of these collaborations and events take time to materialise, but rest assured that the committee is doing what we can to make these a reality.  And to help us get there sooner, we need you!  We need your support for our events, your expertise to teach and share, your words of encouragement, or however you feel you can contribute to SALTS.  This is probably an opportune time for me to tell you that we are seeking new committee members for our Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2019.  If you have been thinking about making SALTS better, about giving back to the local Speech Therapy community, or simply about working together with a fun, energetic team of like-minded speechies, WE WANT YOU!  Check out our website or email us to see how you can join us as part of the SALTS committee in the upcoming AGM in March 2019.

The SALTS and I look forward to a fruitful 2019 for SALTS with your continued support!
