The Social Communication Special Interest Group Presents…
The Missing Link! How do the pieces fit: Language, learning and Social Communication?
Language ‘use’ determines ‘form’ and ‘content’. Yet why do we often teach social only after a child has acquired language and is mastering learning? How do we decide what to prioritize?
How do we teach social and what do we teach, when we hardly know what to assess? Why is the focus only in paediatrics when youths and adults may also struggle with Social Communication?
Whose responsibility is it to ‘teach social’? How do we define boundaries, roles and responsibilities? How do we work in closer collaboration with caregivers, colleagues and educators across settings?
Social communication is a very grey area. Come explore this unchartered territory with us. We will be unveiling exciting plans to create a community of sharing, learning and growing, that will change your practice.
