“Crash Course” on Gestalt Language Processing, Echolalia and the Natural Language Acquisition Treatment Framework

SALTS is pleased to announce that we will soon be hosting “Crash Course” on Gestalt Language Processing, Echolalia and the Natural Language Acquisition Treatment Framework online via Zoom! Please join us for some stimulating and valuable professional development!
Following completion of the workshop, clinicians will:
- Understand the difference between analytic and gestalt language processing.
- Understand how to identify a gestalt language processor.
- Understand the 4 main stages of Gestalt Language Acquisition (Natural Language Acquisition stages).
- Be able to identify and give examples of the different types of echolalia in all of the NLA stages.
- Understand how to assess and begin treating clients who communicate with delayed echolalia.
This workshop has been developed for speech therapists.
Alexandria Laris Zachos is a licensed speech-language pathologist in the state of Illinois and has been practicing since 2003. Over the past seventeen years, she has provided therapy for all ages in a variety of clinical settings, including public schools, home therapy, acute care and rehabilitation hospitals and outpatient clinics. She received her Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, MA in 2003 and her Bachelors Degree in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2001.
Alexandria holds a certificate of clinical competence (CCC) and is accredited by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). She holds a Type 73 Public School Service Personnel Certificate in the state of Illinois. She has attended several professional seminars featuring Michelle Garcia Winner’s Social Thinking strategies and incorporates Winner’s work into pragmatic therapy sessions and groups. Alexandria has a special interest in social communication and helping both children and adults navigate the social world.
In both November 2017 and 2018 Alexandria presented at the American Speech-Language Hearing (ASHA) Convention in Los Angeles, CA and Boston, MA on Natural Language Acquisition and delayed echolalia. She has an on demand webinar available for CEUs through ASHA on this topic. She is passionate about educating others on gestalt language processors and how to treat delayed echolalia.
