Special Interest Groups

As part of our endeavour to support SLTs in Singapore and foster their professional development, various Special Interest Groups (SIGs) have been formed, each with a focus on a specific area of Speech and Language Therapy.

SIGs allow professionals with a common vested interest or passion in a clinical area of practice to come together to share their knowledge and clinical expertise. There are currently seven SIGs, each consisting of a small group of SLTs. You have to be a member of SALTS to take part in a SIG.

The SIGs currently cover these areas:

  • Adult Language
  • Complex Communication (including Augmentative and Alternative Communication)
  • Dementia
  • Mainstream Schools
  • Paediatric Dysphagia
  • Social Communication
  • Voice

Each SIG has the same general objectives:

Grow local expertise
Develop best practices
Encourage peer learning

SIGs meet on average four times a year to share recent developments in the field, develop best practices discuss case studies or bond over tea and cookies! Each SIG will also contribute at least one annual Professional Development event for SLTs working in or interested in that particular area of clinical practice.

If you have any questions regarding SIGs please contact us at cpe@salts.org.sg
